Lab-grown diamonds are created in a controlled laboratory environment using advanced technology. They are chemically, physically, and optically similar to mined diamonds. They are grown in a lab instead of mining it from the Earth.
How are lab-grown diamonds made?
Lab-grown diamonds are created using two primary methods: High-Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). Both methods mimic the natural conditions under which diamonds form deep inside the Earth, resulting in diamonds that are virtually indistinguishable from mined diamonds.
Are Lab-Grown Diamonds the Same as Natural Diamonds?
Yes, lab-grown diamonds and natural diamonds have the same chemical, physical, and optical properties. They are made of pure carbon and possess the same brilliance, hardness, and durability as mined diamonds.
In fact, no one — including a professional gemologist — can differentiate between a lab-grown diamond and a natural diamond without specialized laboratory equipment. The only difference lies in their origin: natural diamonds are formed beneath the Earth over billions of years, while lab-grown diamonds are created in controlled laboratory environments using advanced technology.
Do lab-grown diamonds come with certifications?
Yes, lab-grown diamonds come with certification from reputable gemological laboratories, such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the International Gemological Institute (IGI), or the Gem Certification & Assurance Lab (GCAL). These certificates provide details about the diamond's 4Cs—cut, color, clarity, and carat weight—and confirm its authenticity.
What if I want to repair my jewel?
We can change the ring size +/- by one. Other repairs are case to case and we need to inspect the piece before we can undertake the same. The cost of such repairs will be informed to you before its completion.
